The Enterprise Technology team supports insights with data and the technical systems that give our teams leverage to achieve their objectives. We work cross-functionally with Asana’s business teams to understand their goals and ensure they receive the data and technical support they need to flourish.

We are looking for a seasoned System Engineer to join our dynamic Marketing Technology team within Asana’s Enterprise Technology organization. This role will play a critical part in optimizing and managing our Customer Data Platform (CDP) and other Marketing Technology (Martech) tools. You will be responsible for integrating, configuring, and maintaining our Martech infrastructure to drive data-driven marketing initiatives and enhance customer experiences across multiple channels.

This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. What you’ll achieve

  • Segment CDP Management:
    • Maintain, optimize, and manage our Segment CDP.
    • Ensure accurate and efficient data collection, transformation, and distribution through Segment.
    • Develop custom integrations using node.js, SQL, etc.
    • Implement and test real-time inbound and outbound integrations
    • Monitor data flow, identify anomalies, and ensure data quality and consistency.
    • Collaborate with business, product, and data teams to ensure data needs are met.
  • Content Management System (CMS) Integration and Management:
    • Integrate and customize CMS to support marketing campaigns.
    • Work with web developers and content creators to ensure seamless publishing processes.
    • Maintain and optimize CMS functionalities to align with marketing strategies.
  • Personalization and Experimentation Tools:
    • Implement and manage web personalization tools to deliver tailored experiences to customers.
    • Use data-driven insights to create and optimize personalization strategies.
    • Monitor and assess website performance and user engagement through A/B testing and other methodologies.
    • Utilize technology,including AI, for the customization of content and graphics.
  • Localization Tools:
    • Implement and manage localization tools to ensure content is accurately translated and culturally relevant.
    • Coordinate with regional teams to support multi-language and multi-regional marketing initiatives.
    • Monitor localized content for quality and consistency.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, product, IT, and analytics.
    • Serve as a Martech subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders.
    • Communicate technical details and benefits effectively to non-technical team members.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (6+ years) in marketing technology with a strong focus on CDPs, preferably Segment and marketing automation and CRM tools like Marketo, Iterable, Salesforce. Certifications in Segment, CMS platforms, or relevant Martech tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with customer journey mapping and analytics tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or Mixpanel.
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages including SQL, and JavaScript or Python, with a strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
  • Experience with CMS platforms like Contentful and localization tools for multi-language content management.
  • Experience with web personalization tools like Optimizely, Adobe Target, or similar, and AI capabilities for content/graphic personalization tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in a fast-paced environment.

We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role. To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $173,000 - $221,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.

In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
