What are the benefits of upgrading from Starter to Advanced?

If you’ve begun a trial or recently upgraded to Advanced, there are a few things you should try out right away. First, you’ve now got access to many new features not available in Starter: goals to help manage OKRs, portfolios to gain an overview of your team’s work, workload to manage your team’s capacity, and proofing and approvals to streamline the review process.

Advanced unlocks additional functionalities within some features that Starter users will already be familiar with. Rules benefit from the addition of the custom rule builder for more intricate workflows and automations, while custom fields receive the ability to lock a field’s settings even when used across the organization. Integrations with Jira Cloud Data Sync, ServiceNow and Adobe Creative Cloud bring your team or organization's Asana data to life, and forms with branching logic aid the intake and triage of requests in powerful new ways.

Security is a top priority for us. We offer a high level of security for both free and paid customers. To learn more about how we protect your data, check out our Security Statement, Privacy Statement, and the related section of the Asana Guide.

Asana’s enterprise plans give you even more control and support. Learn more about Asana for Enterprises.

In addition to all Starter features, here’s what you get with an Asana Advanced plan:

  • Goals—Set, track, and manage company goals while connecting it to work to achieve it for a single source of truth for leads, executives, and individuals.

  • Portfolios—Organize strategic initiatives into Portfolios to monitor the status, timelines, and teammate workloads across projects.

  • Forms with branching logic— Based on initial responses, guide users through relevant follow-up questions. Craft forms that adapt to user input, providing up to five nested branch levels.

  • Workload—Asana’s resource management feature provides a single view of team bandwidth and helps you make informed staffing decisions and rebalance workloads if needed.

  • Reporting on goals— Visualize the performance of company-wide, team, and individual goals. Report on specific criteria from goal status to time frames, ensuring your tracking aligns with your strategic vision.

  • Reporting on portfolios— Seamlessly view, adjust, and generate comprehensive reports tailored to portfolios. This centralized overview grants you a snapshot of your project landscapes.

  • Proofing—Give clear feedback by leaving comments directly on images or PDFs that turn into tasks for easy tracking.

  • Approvals—Request and give approvals on work in Asana.

  • Custom rules—Add rules to automate manual processes like triaging, assigning tasks, updating Asana fields, and more. Create custom rules, use conditional logic, and have access to exclusive triggers.

  • Lock custom fields—Control who can edit custom field values across all projects, so you can track all information consistently within your organization.
