As the Head of our Go-to-Market (GTM) Project Management Office (PMO), you will play a pivotal role in leading a dynamic team of Technical Program Managers (TPMs) and Business Program Managers (BPMs) in our Enterprise Technology org. This role reports directly to our Head of PMO, Strategy, and Operations. The Enterprise Technology team supports insights with data and the technical systems that give our teams leverage to achieve their objectives. We work cross-functionally with Asana’s business teams to understand their goals and ensure they receive the data and technical support they need to flourish.

We are looking for a strategic visionary who will orchestrate our GTM strategies, converting them into impactful project achievements, significantly enhancing our growth and presence in the market. You’ll find the environment here combines the dynamics of both rapidly growing startups and well-established organizations, so if you have this background, you’ll be able to leverage your insights and best practices, and integrate with Asana’s methods. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring all projects are executed and align with and amplify our corporate strategies and goals.

This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.

What you’ll achieve

  • Foster robust partnerships with internal stakeholders from the Revenue, Marketing, and CX organizations to align efforts and foster collaborative success.
  • Work with business sponsors to craft strategic roadmaps that reflect business goals and take resource availability into account.
  • Serve as the PMO spokesperson, regularly communicating updates that highlight progress, upcoming challenges, and solutions.
  • Drive key GTM projects from concept through to execution, ensuring they align with overarching business goals and are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a team of high-performing TPMs and BPMs, establishing a culture of excellence and ongoing capabilities enhancement.
  • Implement and advocate Agile/Scrum/Lean principles and practices to promote efficient practices and result-oriented outcomes across teams.
  • Streamline PMO operations, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness through the adoption of best practices and innovative project management tools. Develop and implement metrics for measuring project success and team performance.
  • Identify potential risks early in the project lifecycle, devising and executing effective mitigation strategies. Make informed decisions that balance risk with opportunity, driving the business forward in a competitive landscape.

About you

  • A seasoned leader with 8+ years in program management, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within a PMO.
  • Experience in managing enterprise-level technology projects across functions like Revenue, Marketing, Finance, Customer Experience, Legal, and People Ops.
  • Extensive experience in leading agile project delivery for enterprise technology products, as well as in traditional IT initiatives, with knowledge in agile methodologies including SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, and Lean-Agile. Certifications such as PMP, Scrum Master, Product Owner, or SAFe would be an asset.
  • Keen curiosity and understanding of SaaS business models and its product development lifecycle (infrastructure, software, or data services, Gen AI).
  • A customer-centric mindset, always asking how our work is improving the lives of our customers (internal or external).
  • Exceptional strategic-thinking and analytical skills, with a proven ability to think ahead and execute methodically.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a diverse team.
  • Ability to establish credibility and rapport with senior executives and technical and non-technical team members.
