Staff Software Engineer, Continuous Integration

We’re looking for an engineer who is passionate about test infrastructure and continuous integration. As a Test Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll be responsible for understanding opportunities for improvement in Asana’s testing workflows and architecting and implementing changes that meaningfully impact both our ability to run automated testing and the experience of engineers running tests on their changes.

The Test Infrastructure team builds the systems and tooling that bring Asana engineers’ work through automated testing and build for production. We are responsible for ensuring automated test workflows are fast and stable, strengthening our continuous integration pipeline to provide our engineers with world-class testing infrastructure. We help ensure both the integrity of our test infrastructure and that our engineers are able to quickly act on feedback from their CI builds. We recently migrated our Bazel test architecture to a remote Bazel architecture unlocking scaling opportunities and performance improvements. Next up, we are scaling our test architecture to allow for more complex integration tests.

This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. What you’ll achieve

  • Support and guide technical design and architecture for our Test Infrastructure team
  • Design, build, and operate CI and build systems to ensure Asana engineers are building robust  product quickly
  • Mentor and uplevel team engineers on the team and within the broader developer productivity team
  • Contribute to a test infrastructure vision that serves a growing and global-scale engineering team
  • Partner with developer productivity and broader infrastructure teams to help set direction for Test Infrastructure and influence direction beyond the team

About you

  • 6+ years experience of full time professional software development experience, or equivalent
  • 4+ year working on distributed systems or infrastructure
  • An understanding and passion for developer productivity
  • Focus on eliminating risks and building reliable, scalable, and performant systems

  • Familiarity with some of infrastructure, Python, AWS, and JavaScript/TypeScript

To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit. 

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $248,000 - $316,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.

In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
