Software Engineer, Design System

Asana’s Design System team raises product quality and velocity by empowering product teams. The team is cross-functional, including three designers and five engineers. We help product teams ensure our web application stays inclusive, intuitive, delightful, coherent, and reliable by providing helpful systems and tools. We also give designers & engineers hands-on support. Recently, we helped unblock a company-wide accessibility effort, got close to parity between Figma and code, and shipped our first spacing & sizing token, building on earlier work to introduce color tokens. Next, we’re investing in providing even more leverage with composable components, better visual testing, and an overall more intuitive & efficient experience for designers & developers.

This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. What you’ll achieve

• Develop exemplary, visually polished & highly reusable frontend components in React
• Collaborate closely with engineers and designers, product managers, and data scientists through every step of the design & development process
• Ensure Asana’s design system helps both engineers & designers ship product features fast & with high quality
• Receive mentorship to grow into an expert on React, design systems, accessibility & frontend engineering
• Share your growing expertise with Asana’s product engineers & designers, so they fully leverage our design system to design, plan, build & ship product features

About you

• 2+ years of software development experience and a deep interest in modern frontend web technology; TypeScript, React & Sass / CSS
• Open, curious, and love to learn from those around you–engineers & designers
• Communicate clearly & collaborate effectively with both engineers & designers
• Independent–you exercise sound judgment to balance moving fast, writing great code, and creating inclusive & visually beautiful user experiences
• Want an environment where teammates empower one another to be their best selves

We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role. To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $171,000 - $209,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.

In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
