The Data Science function at Asana is instrumental in enabling Asana's mission by instilling a data-influenced approach in building the product or business strategy and building and iterating to deliver value to our users. Data Scientists closely partner with Product, Business, Design, Engineering, and also other members of the Data team. We leverage experimentation, statistical modeling and machine learning techniques, causal inference, and data storytelling to deepen our understanding of Asana customers and make optimal decisions to drive more business value. 

Within this broader framework, the Marketing Data Science team is responsible for leveraging data and scientific techniques to be a force multiplier for Asana’s overall effectiveness in marketing. This team collaborates with marketing leadership, and also within the broader Asana data community to identify new opportunities to drive Asana’s marketing capabilities and efficiency forward. This role reports directly to the Head of Business Data Science, and is a people management role. 

This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. What you’ll achieve

  • Help drive the Marketing DS team to deliver against their roadmap for projects to improve marketing efforts on projects like Lead Scoring, Media Mix Modelling (MMM), Multi-touch Attribution (MTA), and Spend Optimization.
  • Manage a team of 5+ data scientists at various levels of seniority, with responsibility for their further growth and development as data scientists. Help recruit and grow the team as necessary for continued success within the business.
  • Partner with marketing leadership to understand the needs and opportunities to introduce more data science to the way Asana conducts business
  • Be a leader within the Asana Data Community, including interfacing with other Data Science teams, Data Engineering, and Analytics, in addition to teams like MarketingOps and Paid Media that are major consumers of data outputs.
  • Educate partners about new capabilities and advances in the marketing DS space, be an ally and a guide to help them understand the positive impact it can have to their line of business.

About you

  • 5+ Years experience working in a similar data science capacity
  • 2+ years experience managing a team of data scientists (minimum 3+ individuals)
  • 4+ years experience working with Marketing functions and associated data science projects, including but not limited to Multi-touch Attribution (MTA), Media Mix Modelling (MMM), geo-based testing, Spend Optimization, Life-Time Value Modelling (LTV), etc.
  • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of scalable machine learning solutions and data products that meet the dynamic needs of our business
  • Strong expertise and a demonstrated track record in leading data driven marketing strategies that seamlessly integrate product-led growth (PLG) and sales-led growth (SLG) initiatives.

To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $258,000 - $328,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.

In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
