Episode soundbites

“Asynchronous communication is a big thing. That’s going to be a huge topic. You’re not going to be able to have a meeting with everyone anymore to get your job done. You’re going to have to find ways to send them information, and for them to gather information at all hours of the day. Even people who work in the same timezone are now working way more flexible hours, because people need to take breaks more.” — Brian Peterson, CTO and Co-founder at Dialpad

“Give people a break. Block off time when you’re not supposed to meet. Make sure you take care of yourself. If you work best in the evening, it doesn’t matter to me. If that’s when you do your best work, get it done then. I think what the pandemic has shown us is that we’re all human beings, and we’re not invincible. It’s important to look at the individual and just say—’Look, you’re an adult. You make that choice.” — Olivia Rose, CISO and VP of IT & Security at Amplitude

“You can’t be stubborn about new technology because it actually might really help your business. At the same time, you can’t have one team using this, another team using that, and so on. That is going to cripple your organization. Consistency is key. Pick one thing and make sure everyone uses it.” — Brian Peterson, CTO and Co-founder at Dialpad

“When building business adaptability and resilience, you have to look at the company culture and what will build productivity, a sense of belonging, innovation, and sustainability or else you’re going to be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars without it being put to use.” — Olivia Rose, CISO and VP of IT & Security at Amplitude
