Product Designer, AI Growth Activation and Partnerships

Vancouver, BCApply now

Asana is looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead the evolution of our early activation experiences as users increasingly discover and adopt software through LLM interfaces like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. In this role, you’ll design intuitive, engaging journeys that use AI to translate user intent into clear starting points, helping new users quickly understand where Asana provides value and how it fits into their work. Collaborating closely with cross-functional partners, you’ll shape and iterate on experiences that guide users from their first interaction through to confident, sustained usage.

This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, values user-centered design, and is excited by product-led growth challenges. We’re looking for someone who combines strong product thinking with user research and data insights to identify opportunities across onboarding and adoption—ensuring new users move seamlessly from initial setup to meaningful, value-driven engagement.

This role is based in our Vancouver office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.

What you’ll achieve:

  • Design how Asana shows up in LLM-driven discovery experiences, shaping how users encounter, understand, and evaluate Asana through conversational AI interfaces like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini as these become primary entry points to work software.
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, data science, research, and business teams to design the end-to-end handoff experience between LLM platforms and Asana, ensuring transitions from discovery into the product feel clear, trustworthy, and grounded in real user value.
  • Design and iterate on in-product LLM-to-trial onboarding and early activation journeys, translating user intent from conversational AI into meaningful starting points in Asana that help new users quickly recognize value and confidently begin using the product.
  • Partner with product and data teams to ensure growth experiences connect user needs directly to activation and early engagement, driven by clarity, usability, and a deep understanding of how people work.
  • Contribute to the evolution of design patterns, principles, and best practices for AI-first acquisition and onboarding, helping shape how product-led growth experiences are designed in this new environment.

About you:

  • 5-8+ years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating ownership of onboarding, activation, or growth-related experiences in B2B SaaS or complex consumer products.
  • A proven ability to design for early user value, with experience shaping top-of-funnel or first-use experiences that help users quickly understand, trust, and adopt a product.
  • Comfort working in 0→1 and highly ambiguous problem spaces, where patterns are still emerging and success requires exploration, iteration, and strong design judgment rather than following established playbooks.
  • Experience designing AI-powered or data-informed experiences, with curiosity and hands-on exposure to products that leverage AI, machine learning, or conversational interfaces (direct experience with LLM-powered features is a strong plus).
  • Fluency using research and data to inform design decisions, including partnering on experiments, interpreting qualitative and quantitative signals, and iterating designs based on real user behavior.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data partners, communicate design rationale clearly, and move work forward in complex environments.
  • High bar for craft and usability, with experience delivering polished, production-ready designs and iterating through build, QA, and launch to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI and the future of software, with enthusiasm for how conversational interfaces and emerging technologies are reshaping how people discover, evaluate, and adopt products.
