Mid-June, in the midst of the Olympics preparations… Asana was delighted to host the Work Innovation Summit in Paris, a full day event that brought together leaders from various sectors to challenge and redefine the future of work. The summit, aimed at exploring innovative approaches to collaborative work management, attracted regional Asana customers, prospective clients, and partners – all who were eager to gain insights from industry pioneers.
Framed as an opportunity to delve into a new era of work, the summit showcased how forward-thinking companies are reinventing team collaboration dynamics. Attendees accessed cutting-edge discoveries from the Work Innovation Lab, whose research is regularly featured in the Harvard Business Review. Topics ranged from artificial intelligence (AI), digital tool overload, “digital fatigue,” and the nuances of French workplace culture, offering valuable strategies to optimize collaborative work management.
The event's keynote, "L’humain, l’IA et l’avenir du travail," was a standout session featuring Caroline Notter, Rita Khayat, and Sonja Gusenbauer. They highlighted notable Asana customers who are famous for their outstanding coworking spaces across the capital as well as a global media firm who embodies an organization who is using Asana AI to enhance their work management.
In-Depth Discussions on Innovation
Asana’s very own Dr. Rebecca Hinds, Head of The Work Innovation Lab, was then joined by Mark Mortensen, Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior at INSEAD, for a compelling discussion titled "L'innovation dans le monde du travail : État des lieux en France (2024)." The audience loved their insights into the relationship between French workers and their workplace. I was especially struck by a few of their findings, including:
Perception vs. Reality in Innovation: French workers rate France as the most innovative country globally. However, only 34% view their own organizations as highly innovative, and just 53% feel their organizations are receptive to innovative ideas. This gap underscores a disconnect between national pride and organizational reality.
AI Adoption Disparities: While 75% of executives use AI weekly, only 24% of individual contributors do. This disparity creates a bottleneck for innovation. Nearly half of employees (48%) lack the resources to learn how to effectively use generative AI, highlighting a widespread AI knowledge gap.
The summit concluded with an all-star panel featuring three clients sharing their remarkable work management stories. Over my 7ish years at Asana, I’ve attended quite a few customer panels but this one had something very special. The way our clients were passionate about the platform and how transformative Asana has been for their enterprise organizations was truly inspiring. Additionally, it was fulfilling to see two of my own clients from the Luxury and Beauty sectors on stage, sharing their experiences and tips on how Asana helped them achieve more within their organizations. Building genuine relationships with clients has always been a priority to me. I fondly remember the first time we met to discuss Asana – and fast forward to these months and years later – to see them on stage as happy customers and hearing their success stories reinforced the impact of these meaningful connections.
Just by looking at our attendance rate and the many conversations happening during the champagne cocktail, I knew the event had already achieved its goal. The Work Innovation Summit in Paris was a resounding success, providing valuable insights and strategies for navigating the future of work. It underscored the importance of embracing AI and innovative work management practices to drive growth and sustainability. As attendees left armed with actionable ideas on how Asana could keep on transforming their organizations, the summit marked a significant step forward in redefining the future of work.
