What is Gamma?

Gamma is an AI-powered content creation platform that makes it fast and easy to produce polished presentations, documents, websites, and social media posts. Instead of starting from a blank slide or page, users can generate professional content from a simple prompt, pasted notes, or an existing file—Gamma's AI handles layout, design, and copy suggestions along the way. With built-in themes, smart formatting, images, and charts, Gamma removes the need for design expertise while still producing visually distinctive output. Content can be edited directly in Gamma's flexible card-based editor, shared as an interactive link, or exported to formats like PowerPoint and PDF. With the Asana integration, users can turn project plans, task details, and updates into polished Gamma presentations or documents, and share finished Gamma content directly back to Asana tasks to keep teams aligned.

How to connect Gamma + Asana?

Prerequisites

Before connecting, you need:

• A Gamma account (free or paid) at https://gamma.app. Connectors are configured per Gamma workspace, so make sure you are in the workspace you intend to use.
• An Asana account with access to at least one project or task you want to reference.
• Permission from your Asana organization to authorize third-party apps. Some Asana Enterprise organizations restrict this; if yours does, an Asana admin will need to approve the Gamma app in the Admin Console before connecting it in Asana.
• If your Gamma workspace is on a paid plan with an admin, that admin must have connectors enabled for the workspace. This is on by default. Admins manage it under Settings > Sharing & access > Workspace connectors, where connectors can be switched on or off individually.
• A browser that allows pop-ups for gamma.app. If pop-ups are blocked, Gamma automatically falls back to a full-page redirect instead — the flow still works, it just navigates in the same tab.

Connect and authorize Asana

1. Sign in at https://gamma.app.
2. Go to Settings > My connectors, or open https://gamma.app/settings/my-connectors directly.
3. Type "Asana" into the Search connectors box, then click Connect on the Asana row. The button changes to "Connecting..." and an Asana authorization window opens.
4. In that window, sign in to Asana if you are not already, review the access request, and click Allow. Asana will show which Gamma app is requesting access and which of your Asana accounts will be linked.
5. The window closes on its own and you return to Gamma. A confirmation appears reading "Asana connected", and the Asana row now shows a green "Connected" badge with the email address of the Asana account you authorized.

You can verify what was granted at any time: click the ••• menu on the connected Asana row and choose About this connector. That dialog lists what Gamma reads, the permissions granted, and states plainly that Gamma never writes to, deletes from, or shares content from the connector.

What Gamma can read

Projects, tasks, portfolios, status updates, attachments, teams, and user details — specifically via Asana's read-only MCP operations: search_objects, search_tasks, get_task, get_tasks, get_my_tasks, get_project, get_projects, get_portfolio, get_portfolios, get_items_for_portfolio, get_status_overview, get_attachments, get_me, get_user, get_users, get_teams, get_agent, and get_workspace_agents.

What Gamma cannot do

Gamma enables only the read operations listed above. No create, update, delete, comment, assign, or share operation is available to the integration, so there is no path by which Gamma can modify your Asana data.

Scope of access

Gamma connects to Asana's MCP server at https://mcp.asana.com/v2/mcp using OAuth. Tokens issued to an Asana MCP app carry no additional scopes — access is bounded entirely by what you, the authorizing user, can already see in Asana. Gamma cannot reach any project, task, or team that is not already visible to your own Asana account.

Who the connection applies to

A connection is per user, per Gamma workspace. Authorizing Asana links only your own Asana account, only in the Gamma workspace you were in at the time. It does not grant your teammates access to your Asana data, and it does not carry over to your other Gamma workspaces.

Retention

Gamma reads Asana content on demand, at the moment you ask the agent for something, and uses it as context to generate your content. See https://gamma.app/privacy for how connected third-party data is handled.

Initial end-to-end setup (first use)

1. Go to https://gamma.app/agents. (In normal use, you reach this by typing a prompt into the Create box on the Gamma home page.)
2. In the message box at the bottom, click the + button ("Add or connect").
3. Open Connectors. Asana should appear under "Connected" and read “Enabled". If it reads "Disabled", click the row to switch it on. The number next to Connectors shows how many connectors are currently enabled.
4. Close the menu and describe what you want, naming the Asana content. For example: "Using my Asana account, pull the current status and open tasks for the Website Redesign project and turn them into a short status presentation for our Monday standup."
5. Send the message. Gamma's agent looks up the project in Asana, shows its progress as it reads, and then generates a presentation from what it found. Open it and confirm the content matches your project.
6. Optional check: open Asana in another tab. Nothing has changed — no new tasks, no edits, no comments.

Shortcut: you can skip steps 2 and 3 entirely. If you simply ask the agent for something that needs Asana, it offers an "Optional connector" card in the conversation with a Connect button that runs the same authorization flow inline, then continues with your request.

To disconnect at any time: Settings > My connectors > ••• on the Asana row > Disconnect. Gamma immediately loses access. You can also revoke Gamma from Asana's own app-management settings.

Troubleshooting

• "Permissions not granted" (red) with a Try again button: Authorization completed, but access was not granted — usually the Allow button was not clicked, or the window was closed too early. Click Try again and complete the Asana prompt fully.
• "Session expired" (amber) with a Reconnect button: Your Asana authorization is no longer valid, typically because it was revoked in Asana or has aged out. Click Reconnect and re-authorize. Gamma remembers which Asana account was linked.
• "Last fetch failed" (red): The connection is valid, but a recent read did not complete, usually a temporary Asana API issue. Click Details, then retry your request.
• "Not enabled in your workspace" with Connect greyed out: A Gamma workspace admin has turned off connectors, or turned off Asana specifically. Ask your admin to enable it under Settings > Sharing & access > Workspace connectors.
• Nothing happens when you click Connect: Your browser is blocking the pop-up. Allow pop-ups for gamma.app and try again; Gamma will otherwise complete the flow as a full-page redirect.
• The connection stays on "Connecting...": Finish the authorization in the Asana window. Gamma waits five minutes before timing the attempt out; after that, click Try again.
• The agent says it cannot find your project or task: Gamma can only see what your Asana account can see. Confirm you are a member of the project, and try naming it exactly as it appears in Asana.
• Asana blocks the authorization outright: Your Asana organization restricts third-party apps. An Asana admin will need to permit the Gamma app.
