Filestage + Asana

What is Filestage?

The Filestage integration lets project managers keep review and approval work fully visible inside Asana. From any Asana task, users can link an existing Filestage review or upload a new file and kick off a review without leaving the app. A review card on the task shows the file thumbnail, version, status, due date, and comment count, updating automatically as reviewers weigh in. This eliminates the constant back-and-forth of checking Filestage separately, saving project managers time and giving them one clear place to track progress.

How to connect Filestage + Asana?

Prerequisites

• An active Asana account with access to the project where you want to use the integration.
• An active Filestage account.
• Permission to install apps in the relevant Asana project.
• Access to the Filestage projects where files will be uploaded.
• The file you want to send to Filestage should be attached to an Asana task.

Installation and setup

• Find Filestage in the Asana App Directory/Marketplace.
• Add the Filestage app to all projects where you want to use the integration, or select specific Asana projects.
• When prompted, sign in to Filestage using your Filestage credentials and authorize the connection.
• Once connected, open an Asana project where the Filestage app has been installed.
• Select an Asana task. Under the Apps section of the task, you should see Filestage.

Attaching an existing Filestage review to an Asana task

If the file or review already exists in Filestage, you can attach it to an Asana task without uploading the file again.

• Open the Asana task where you want to attach the existing Filestage review.
• Under the Apps section of the task, open Filestage.
• Choose the option to attach an existing Filestage review.
• Find the review you want to attach. You can locate an existing Filestage file/review using the available search functionality or provide its Filestage URL.
• Select the appropriate review.
• Confirm the selection to attach it to the Asana task.
• The Filestage review will now appear in the Filestage section of the Asana task.
• You can use the attached Filestage link to open the review directly in Filestage and continue the review and approval process.

Uploading an Asana attachment to Filestage

• Open the Filestage app from the Apps section of the Asana task.
• Select the option to add/upload a file to Filestage.
• Select the attachment from the current Asana task that you want to send to Filestage.
• Select the Filestage project where the file should be uploaded.
• If applicable, select the section within the Filestage project.
• Select one or more review steps that should be associated with the uploaded file.
• Submit the form to start the upload.

Filestage will upload the selected Asana attachment to the chosen Filestage project.
