The Pareto principle. The Pareto principle, otherwise known as the 80/20 rule, is simple: it states that you spend 20% of your time on 80% of your work. In applying the Pareto principle to time management, you’re encouraged to work on the 80% of your work that only takes 20% of your time first. Getting things done (GTD). The GTD method was invented by David Allen in the early 2000s.
