You're signing up to help the Asana Experience Research team. There is no long-term commitment, and how and when you participate is up to you. You'll be helping us improve Asana, and how teams work, communicate, and collaborate with each other. You may test or give feedback on existing features and functionality, products that are still in development, or something we haven’t even thought of yet. For example, we might ask you to try, then give feedback on a beta version of a feature, or we might interview you to help us plan something new altogether. For any study you're invited to you’ll receive an email outlining how it will work and what your involvement will be. Participation in any study is completely voluntary and doesn’t affect future opportunities. You're also agreeing to the research terms.

We’re interested in talking to anyone who works in an environment that requires teamwork and collaboration. At this time, we’re focused on people who are working in a team professionally (e.g. on a project at work), rather than personally (e.g. planning your move or wedding). We’d like to hear from people in a range of roles (from individual contributors and managers to team leads and executives) in any industry (technology and manufacturing to real estate and publishing). If you work with people to get things done, we want to talk to you.

There are a number of ways you can participate. Here are some of the more common studies:

• Remote usability study (most common) - we’ll set up a chat with you via Skype (or some other online tool) in which we’ll share screens and discuss the usability, usefulness, and desirability of features we’re considering.
• Research study at Asana - You come to us! For people local to our San Francisco office, you would visit us. We would probably have you look at some very early concepts or do some more “hands on” activities (like with paper and stickies).
• Field study - We come to you! An Asana researcher (or 2) might visit your office or work space to get a sense of your physical environment, team dynamics, and other things you can only tell by being there in person.
• Surveys - You know the routine -- you’ll receive an email asking you to answer some questions related to the Asana product or your experiences. Other interesting opportunities include events, digital diaries, team-based interviews, collaborative ideation, and more.

When we begin a new study, we contact people who may be a match for the topic we’re interested in, based on the form filled out at signup. It could be quite a while before you hear from us and it’s possible that you will never be contacted during this program. That doesn’t mean we don’t value your opinion, it just means we haven’t found the right fit.

Invitations will usually come via email and will describe the nature of the study with a link to a questionnaire that will help us confirm your eligibility.

We limit your invitations for participation to three times a month. So no matter how many different ways you choose to participate (survey, interview, etc.) we will never contact you more than three times in a month, unless you ask us to.

At any time, you can share your thoughts with us.

It really varies from study to study but usability tests and conversational interviews typically range from half an hour to an an hour and a half. They’ll almost always take place during the week and may be during working hours or after; usually whatever is most convenient for you.

Other types of studies (e.g. digital diaries) could take just a few minutes a couple times a week for a few weeks or a survey which may only require 10 minutes.

Most definitely! Just register and tell us a bit about yourself. While we will want to evaluate just Asana users sometimes, we’re also very interested in people who don’t use Asana. We’re curious about how people collaborate, communicate, and work together, so we can find ways to improve the process and learn from what’s successful.

You have to be 18 years old in order to register and participate in this program.
