The Web Growth team is responsible for building systems that empower developers, marketers, and more to build improvements to and Asana’s product which have directly measurable benefits to the Asana user experience and the company’s business. The team builds and integrates with a modern stack of web hosting applications, infused with powerful custom infrastructure which allows us to customize and improve every aspect of the site for optimal results. Web Growth develops and employs AB testing, personalization, optimization, and other best practices as part of its core responsibilities. The end result is a tailored user journey that incorporates exploration, learning, shopping, and onboarding into a cohesive story that transforms our customers’ organizations for the better.

As the engineering manager for web growth, you will be responsible for guiding the careers and day-to-day engineering work of the engineers on the team. You will work closely with cross-functional peers including Product Management, Design, Data Science, User Research, Marketing, and more to drive your team’s strategy and achieve measurable outcomes. You will manage and collaborate with the team’s Tech Lead, who is responsible for specifying and unblocking the team’s projects and tasks. Finally, you will establish and lead the culture of your team, leveraging your emotional intelligence to grow a diverse and psychologically safe environment where all can thrive.

What you’ll achieve

  • Manage, support and grow a diverse team of 4-6 full-stack engineers
  • Partner with the team's product managers, designers, and other engineers to choose an impactful and achievable roadmap
  • Work with our data scientists and user researchers to develop a deep understanding of our customers and their challenges
  • Coach and mentor the team's engineers for individual impact, balance, growth, and leadership
  • Thoughtfully craft the team's responsibilities, goals, and processes to achieve clarity and sustainable delivery across all functions
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders across the organization to help make Asana's workplace more balanced, performant, inclusive, and in line with our values.
  • Work closely with recruiting and other engineering managers to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences and events, and onboarding new employees

About you

  • You have 5+ years of engineering experience, with 1+ years of experience managing a technical team
  • You have experience working cross-functionally with product management, design, and infrastructure teams
  • You can understand and evaluate high-level technical decisions
  • You are willing and able to dive into code yourself
  • You are focused on maximizing impact for yourself, your team, and your organization as a whole
  • You are equipped with the engineering skills, empathy, and integrity needed to evaluate and guide the career paths of technically-astute engineers
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity; you enjoy figuring out what needs to be done—and then doing it
  • Familiarity and interest in modern frontend web technology; TypeScript, React, NextJS, SASS / CSS preferred
