Team Lead, Global Income Tax

We’re looking for a detail oriented and collaborative income tax provision expert who has experience in implementing best practices for corporate income taxes at a fast growing company and team. You will be responsible for overseeing all direct tax tasks and partner with our business and G&A team as the subject matter expert for income tax. You will be heavily involved in building out best-in-class operational systems for Asana, and have first hand insight into operationalizing income taxes.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead quarterly and annual worldwide consolidated income tax provision calculations and related financial statement disclosures
  • Oversee all income tax related items including GILTI, FDII, foreign tax credits, R&D tax credits, Section 382 & 383 limitations, Company's tax attributes and FIN48 Reserves
  • Manage Asana’s US, state, and foreign income tax returns, including quarterly estimated payments
  • Oversee foreign income tax returns globally for Asana’s Global entities
  • Lead all federal, state and foreign income tax related audits
  • Keep up to date on meaningful tax matters, including staying up to date with new, proposed and final regulations, tax law updates, SEC Regulations/US GAAP changes, and providing guidance for tax compliance and tax accounting
  • Work closely with the accounting and financial reporting groups to provide guidance and explanation of tax numbers and issues. Ensure financial statement presentation and amounts are recorded and presented properly. 
  • Identify and implement tax savings opportunities by analyzing general ledger activities, tax accounting positions for both US and foreign subsidiaries, and understanding all company transactions.
  • Responsible with other members of management for development and education of team and other departments on income tax issues.
  • Assist with the compliance with Company policies, Federal tax reporting requirements and SOX 404.



  • 8-10+ years of experience of tax provision/compliance related experience, including some international income tax experience in SEC registered companies
  • Big 4 public accounting (3 years min) with a CPA certificate preferred, industry experience a bonus
  • Strong US and foreign income tax knowledge and hands-on experience with tax issues of large multinational companies
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently, takes initiative and leads projects to completion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact successfully internally as well as with external service providers and the ability to document the positions taken
  • Proactive, transparent work style and takes ownership and responsibility for assigned duties.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks appropriately, execute with accuracy, meet deadlines, and recognize when to call out issues
  • Provide outstanding client service to the finance department and business through timely and accurate responses
