Corporate Development Director

San Francisco
We are looking for our first sole Corporate Development leader and strategic thinker to build out the Corp Dev function at Asana, drive end to end deal execution and integration, while bringing strategy and industry knowledge to the role.  This role will drive transaction activities such as identifying, evaluating, and executing M&A activity, in close partnership with the product and engineering teams. Candidate must exhibit extensive collaboration and coordination skills with both external parties and many cross organizational internal teams. We are looking for an organized self-starter who is able to think strategically, while executing on deals and building the long term roadmap for deal execution and corporate development at Asana. This role is not remote flexible and will be based out of our San Francisco office later this year.
 
What You’ll Achieve:
  • Working closely with business leaders and senior executives to develop strategy and identify acquisition opportunities that accelerate Asana’s mission
  • Research multiple sources for company, industry, and market information; proactively identify and develop new strategic opportunities; source and evaluate new opportunities
  • Support deal leads through the end-to-end M&A deal execution, including business case development, financial modeling, deal negotiation, due diligence, and integration planning
  • Lead comprehensive due diligence process; coordinate extensively with various internal and external business groups; evaluate product, go-to-market, and cultural fit of the targets
  • Coordinate a cross-functional deal team within Asana, and serve as a point of contact to target company management and advisors.
  • Analyze company financial statements, create pro-forma financial models, and conduct valuation analysis
  • Assist in refining playbooks that incorporate prior experiences and industry best practices across all key work streams.
 
About You:
  • Undergraduate degree with strong record of academic achievement; MBA is a plus, but not required
  • 5+ years in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or similar level of experience and skills; in house experience in the Tech/SaaS space preferred. 
  • Proficiency in crafting detailed, operationally focused financial models and performing detailed valuation analyses; strong accounting skills and understanding of key operational metrics.
  • Ability to distill target diligence findings into key value drivers; identify and assess key issues and model / value opportunities and risks.
  • Experience working with senior leadership; ability to build relationships quickly and cultivate trust at all organizational levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills critical; ability to build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, corporate functions (e.g., Legal, HR, Finance) and external partners (e.g., investment bankers, VCs, startups)
  • The candidate must be a self-driven individual and team performer with exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail
