## Export Asana projects to CSV for custom reporting

Are you an Excel whiz who loves nothing more than manipulating data? Now, you can export data you capture in Asana to a spreadsheet.

Custom reporting is something a number of teams — from sales and marketing to customer support — depend on to track progress and increase efficiencies. Every Asana project is a searchable database and while [Asana search](https://asana.com/guide/resources/videos/search-views-chapter) lets you [create custom reports](https://asana.com/guide/team/advanced/getting-insights) and see a custom list of tasks, we know some teams want to do more. So, you can now[export any project from Asana to a CSV file](https://asana.com/guide/help/faq/security#sts=Export) where you can customize this data in whatever way your team finds most useful.

To export a project, simply click on the drop-down arrow in the Project Actions menu and select ‘Export > CSV.’

Your project will be turned into a spreadsheet that contains all the following information: Task ID, Creation Date, Completion Date, Last Modified Date, Name, [Assignee](https://asana.com/guide/help/tasks/people), Due Date, Tags, Notes, Project Name, and Parent Task (for [subtasks](https://asana.com/guide/help/tasks/subtasks)).

Once you’ve exported the project to a CSV, you can create customized reports, pivot tables, charts, graphs, and tables that you can share with your team and/or external parties.

## When to export a project to a CSV

Here are just a few of ways you can get more out of Asana with this feature. Let us know if your team discovers more ways to make use of project data in a spreadsheet.

#### For compliance and record-creation

If you work in finance or accounting, you’ll likely deal with auditors. Now, you can create an external record of all completed tasks that you can quickly share to show your compliance and maintain an external record of your work.

#### For reporting

If you’re a data-driven marketer, work in customer support or sales, you’ll now be able to
use the data you export from Asana to create graphs, pivot tables, and [aggregates in Excel](https://asana.com/uses/excel-project-management). Share this information with your team, contractors, and drop into presentations.

#### For tracking productivity

For managers, this features provides an opportunity to do more deep dive analysis of individual productivity. The creation, completion, and last modified date and assignee fields are particularly useful to quickly demonstrate success, show momentum, and highlight major milestones.
