Employee Engagement

At Asana, we take a human-centered approach to co-creation, clarity of purpose, connection, and employee health and well-being.

Co-creation

Just as we work to continuously improve the Asana product, we believe in continuously improving and co-creating our culture. We rely on our Voice of the Employee programs for measurement and improvement, and proactively seek input from our stakeholders through avenues such as the Global People Advisory Board, our ERGs, and our semiannual companywide engagement surveys in order to collaboratively shape Asana’s culture.

The pyramid of clarity

At Asana, we use a system called “the pyramid of clarity” to align the work we do with its high-level purpose and the results we expect from that work. The pyramid of clarity illustrates how our short-term projects and work ultimately impact the strategy and mission of Asana. When entire teams and companies have clarity of purpose, plan, and responsibility, they’re able to do their best work. And for us, the pyramid of clarity is what helps us see how everything fits together. So when determining what work to do every single day, team members know how to prioritize the projects and tasks that will help achieve their key results, which in turn helps achieve annual objectives, which, ultimately, helps achieve the mission.

Asana’s Growth & Impact Team

We believe that a strong culture drives business success and enables our employees to do their most impactful work. Our Growth & Impact team is dedicated to ensuring that our people and our culture are put at the forefront in the pursuit of our mission.

The team’s goal is to ensure that all Asanas are thriving, growing, and making an impact. Growth & Impact involves a six-month cycle of continuous improvement and two-way conversations between employee and manager where we discuss positive impact to customers, employees, and the company at large, and then assess how to grow that impact.

Employee health and well-being

Asana believes that employees’ physical and mental health is paramount to doing our best work, and we intentionally invest in this area as part of our employment offering. Some of our investments include:

Medical benefits

100% employer-paid medical benefits for employees in most regions

Eight free therapy sessions and eight free wellness coaching sessions annually through our partnership with Modern Health

LiveWell

Our LiveWell program, which includes our culinary program focused on healthy, sustainable food, ongoing nutrition education, and yoga and fitness classes

A free onsite gym at our San Francisco headquarters, and monthly gym reimbursement in most other regions

Time off

A generous time-off program designed to recognize the work/rest fractal, and a four-week fully paid sabbatical after four years of service

Supporting mental health

Employees from diverse backgrounds can face a wide range of stressors that impact their mental health and psychological safety. Asana believes that creating an inclusive workplace requires supporting the whole person. One way we do this is by offering individual therapy and coaching sessions, as well as therapist-led Community Circles, through our partnership with Modern Health.
